ARMC’s curriculum combines broad required training with increasing autonomy, longitudinal continuity, and room to individualize the final year. Residents learn across hospital, clinic, maternity, emergency, specialty, and community settings while building the judgment to decide what matters most for each patient.

Three-year progression

PGY-1

Build the foundation.

Develop core skills in inpatient medicine, critical care, obstetrics, newborn care, surgery, geriatrics, and continuity practice.

PGY-2

Expand your scope.

Take on more responsibility across Family Medicine services, pediatrics, women’s health, specialty clinics, health systems, and longitudinal care.

PGY-3

Lead and individualize.

Strengthen clinical leadership, community practice, emergency and specialty skills, and use elective time to prepare for your next setting of practice.

Protected weekly teaching

Wednesday afternoons

Wednesday afternoons are protected for weekly didactics, case-based learning, simulation, point-of-care ultrasound, and hands-on workshops. Teaching is designed to connect directly with the decisions residents make on service and in clinic.

Training beyond rotations

Point-of-care ultrasound. Integrate focused ultrasound into bedside assessment and clinical reasoning.

Simulation. Practice urgent scenarios, procedures, communication, and team leadership in a controlled environment.

Procedural learning. Develop inpatient and outpatient procedural skills through supervised clinical experience.

Tracks and focused opportunities. Deepen training in hospital medicine, HIV care, obesity medicine, integrative medicine, community care, and other areas of interest.
