Message from Our Program Director
Hello!
Welcome to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center Family Medicine Residency website! We're thrilled to have you here.
My name is Deborah Small, MD, and I am proud to serve as the current program director for our Family Medicine residency. Over the past year, we've experienced some changes in leadership, but one thing remains steadfast: our commitment to providing an exceptional education. Our goal is to ensure that when you leave our program, you are a confident, independent-thinking provider ready to serve your community.
Founded in 1969, our residency program is the oldest at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, and we continue to uphold our core values. While the landscape of healthcare can be challenging, we remain dedicated to offering comprehensive care to the Inland Empire.
Our program features a robust inpatient service that equips you with the skills necessary for recognizing when patients require more acute care. Additionally, our outpatient services will prepare you to care for families and perform essential outpatient procedures. We are also proud to be advancing our training in ultrasound and lifestyle medicine, ensuring that you receive a well-rounded education.
Thank you for exploring our new website. We hope you consider joining our family at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Welcome!
Warm regards,
Deborah Small, MD

Our Hospital
Arrowhead Regional Medical Center is a leading healthcare provider in San Bernardino County, known for its commitment to innovation and quality care. Our hospital offers a wide range of medical services, ensuring comprehensive treatment that meets the needs of our community.
This is a great residency because we get a lot of hands on experience, we have a challenging patient population, and our attendings love to teach! We have good support from fellow residents and staff, and a lot of resources at hand to help patients at our hospital and clinics. We get excellent in and outpatient experience, and I feel that I will be prepared for anything when I graduate.
ARMC’s Family Medicine Residency was my top choice in training programs because of the people in our department and the pathology this institution offers. Every member of our department is supportive, dedicated and approachable which has made this the ideal learning environment for me. We are exposed to a wide variation of pathology and a high volume of patients which has allowed me to refine necessary skills to function as a competent and qualified family physician. I am so proud to be part of such an incredible training program!
